Admissions Statistics

The American University of Armenia (AUA) is a private university located in Yerevan, Armenia. Established in 1991, it is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the country. The university offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in a variety of disciplines, including business, engineering, public health, law, and liberal arts.

The admissions process for AUA is highly selective. In 2020, the university received more than 8500 applications for its undergraduate programs alone. Out of these applicants, only 790 were accepted into the university’s various programs. This acceptance rate of 9.3% makes AUA one of the most selective universities in Armenia and the region at large. To be considered for admission to AUA, applicants must submit an application form as well as their transcripts from high school or any previous university they have attended. They must also submit a personal statement and letters of recommendation from two teachers or employers who can speak to their academic or professional qualifications. Additionally, applicants must demonstrate English-language proficiency by taking either the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS).

Departments and Degrees Offered

American University of Armenia offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs in the fields of Arts & Sciences, Business & Economics, Humanities & Social Sciences, Information Technology, Law and Public Administration. It also offers a variety of interdisciplinary programs such as International Relations, Media and Communications, Environmental Studies and Conflict Resolution. The university has a total of 12 departments offering degrees in the various disciplines:

The Department of Arts & Sciences provides majors in Fine Arts, Musicology, History and Theory of Culture, Anthropology and Sociology. The Department of Business & Economics offers courses in Accounting, Management Science and Finance. The Department of Humanities & Social Sciences provides majors in Philosophy, Psychology and Political Science. The Department of Information Technology provides majors in Computer Science and Software Engineering. The Law department offers degree programs in Civil Law as well as International Law. Finally, the Department of Public Administration offers courses in Public Policy Analysis and Management.

Each department provides several degree programs ranging from Bachelor’s to Doctoral degrees. At the undergraduate level they offer Bachelor’s degrees such as BA (Bachelor of Arts), BSc (Bachelor of Science), BPA (Bachelor in Public Administration) etc., while at the graduate level they offer Master’s degrees such as MA (Master’s in Arts), MSc (Master’s in Science), MBA (Master’s Business Administration) etc., In addition to this there are also doctoral degree programs available such as PhD (Doctorate in Philosophy).

Apart from providing traditional academic courses American University also encourages students to participate in extracurricular activities like sports competitions or cultural festivals organized by the university on regular basis. It also has exchange student programmes with leading universities around the world which provide students with an opportunity to gain international exposure while getting their education at AUA.
