The American University of Armenia (AUA) is a private university located in Yerevan, Armenia. Established in 1991, it is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the country. The university offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in a variety of disciplines, including business, engineering, public health, law, and liberal arts.
The admissions process for AUA is highly selective. In 2020, the university received more than 8500 applications for its undergraduate programs alone. Out of these applicants, only 790 were accepted into the university’s various programs. This acceptance rate of 9.3% makes AUA one of the most selective universities in Armenia and the region at large. To be considered for admission to AUA, applicants must submit an application form as well as their transcripts from high school or any previous university they have attended. They must also submit a personal statement and letters of recommendation from two teachers or employers who can speak to their academic or professional qualifications. Additionally, applicants must demonstrate English-language proficiency by taking either the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS).

The Department of Arts & Sciences provides majors in Fine Arts, Musicology, History and Theory of Culture, Anthropology and Sociology. The Department of Business & Economics offers courses in Accounting, Management Science and Finance. The Department of Humanities & Social Sciences provides majors in Philosophy, Psychology and Political Science.
